‘The Battle Of The Five Armies’ Comic-Con Poster Revealed

Jul 23

The stunning first poster for The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies has just been released. Director Peter Jackson posted it on his Facebook earlier today, along with the caption: “Anyone else excited about San Diego Comic Con?” The poster is promotional material for the annual comic and film convention and features the dragon Smaug facing up with Bard The Bowman.

‘The Battle Of The Five Armies’ Film Still Released

Jul 22

On the heels of San Diego Comic-Con, promo for The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies is starting to heat up. After releasing a film still featuring Gandalf with Bard The Bowman in Entertainment Weekly, USA Today also debuted a new look at the upcoming film. This time, Lee Pace is featured — sort of. Thranduil is shown speaking to Gandalf (Ian McKellen), but we only see him from behind (and wearing his battle armor). It’s not much, but it’s a promising start. The Battle Of The Five Armies is the third and final installment of The Hobbit trilogy, and it’ll hit theaters December 17th.

‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Los Angeles Premiere

Jul 21

The world premiere of Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy was held tonight (July 21st) at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California. Lee Pace was at the event, helping to the promote the movie in which he plays the villain, Ronan The Accuser. (Fans of his might know by now that he’s missed quite a few movie premiers throughout his career, so tonight was a special treat.) Plenty of co-stars were on hand, including Chris Pratt, Dave Batista, Benicio Del Toro, Bradley Cooper, Zoe Saldana, Glenn Close, Karen Gillan, Michael Rooker, Vin Diesel, and Gregg Henry; director James Gunn was, of course, also in attendance.

Numerous pictures from the event have been added to the gallery. (ETA: Pictures from the after-party added.) Additionally, check out a video below, in which Lee was interviewed on the red carpet:

Ronan The Accuser Poster Revealed

Marvel has been releasing character posters for their upcoming film, Guardians Of The Galaxy, and today it was the villains’ time to shine. New posters featuring Ronan The Accuser (played by Lee Pace), Nebula, and Korath saw their debut. These join the ranks of Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket Raccoon & Groot, Nova Prime, Corpsman Dey, and Yondu. Guardians Of The Galaxy hits theaters on August 1st.

Lee Boards The Milano

Jul 16

Lee Pace might not have gotten the role of Peter Quill/Star-Lord – as he’s playing baddie Ronan The Accuser instead – but that doesn’t mean he can’t take a ride in his spaceship. Director James Gunn provided the above image as part of his “#gotgpicoftheday,” as seen on his official Instagram. It seems Lee couldn’t resist the impressive set of The Milano, including all of the thought and detailed work put into it. Gunn also provided some commentary on the photo (and ship set), which can be read below:

#gotgpicoftheday Ronan takes the Milano for a spin.

So many of us on the cast and crew were like kids around the giant toys on set. Lee Pace, who plays Ronan, wanted his photo in Peter Quill’s ship and I happily obliged.

The Milano, though hardly the biggest set in the film, was possibly production designer Charlie Wood’s most impressive. In person it seemed every inch a believable spacecraft. It was two levels high and inspired equally by the Apollo space program, the pulp art of Chris Foss, American muscle cars, and what we imagined was an older cousin Peter Quill idolized who had a 1980’s stoner van (some of the walls have shag carpeting).

The Milano is a souped-up version of the Ravagers’ M-ships.

Charlie Wood and I discussed early on that different cultures would have different cultural priorities. On Earth all of our technology is geared towards the priorities of ease and luxury. But other worlds could have other priorities – say, aesthetics or procreation. In the case of the Ravagers, what was most important was a tactile sense of control. Of course they had the technology for more automated crafts, but they wanted to be in control and totally feel the power of the engines and the gears beneath them. Touch is important. So all of their ships were designed around this one concept. #guardiansofthegalaxy #gotg

Second ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Film Still

Jul 16

Although Ronan The Accuser has been slightly elusive throughout Guardians Of The Galaxy promo, Marvel has recently given us another look at the otherworldly villain. Lee Pace plays Ronan in the upcoming sci-fi movie, and he can be seen taking the throne in the above photo. It’s only the second official film still featuring Ronan in GOTG, but hopefully we can anticipate more footage to come. (And hopefully we’ll see Lee at premieres for the movie!)

‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Extended Trailer

Jul 8

If you didn’t get a chance to check out the 17-minute sneak peek of Guardians Of The Galaxy, then maybe this extended trailer will whet your appetite until the movie releases. At 2.5 minutes, it’s not terribly long, but it provides a whole new feel of the upcoming Marvel movie — and there’s additional footage of Lee Pace’s character, Ronan the Accuser, throughout. In fact, for those interested: we even hear him drop a line of dialogue in this trailer. Guardians Of The Galaxy hits theaters August 1st.

LPO Press Archive Update: “Halt And Catch Fire”

Since late May, there have been lots of really great articles and interviews from Lee Pace. Previously, I had only updated about the recent fan Q&A, but I’ve since added numerous other press pieces to the archive. Mostly, Lee talks about “Halt And Catch Fire,” but there’s actually a lot of talk about his past projects, including “Pushing Daisies” (and how he feels about a musical adaptation), Soldier’s Girl, and even Marmaduke. First ‘Guardians’ Film Still Featuring Ronan The Accuser

Jun 26

Check it out! Although there have been various peeks at Ronan The Accuser over the last month or so, there’s finally an official film still released featuring the villain. Lee Pace plays the role in the upcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy movie, to be released August 1st. What do you think of the look? Menacing enough to justify all of Lee’s remarks about Ronan being super bad?

Director James Gunn debuted the still on his Facebook earlier today, and he also included the following quote:

“Lee Pace might be the nicest actor I’ve ever met. Which makes it stranger that he’s playing the biggest dick ever in a ‪#‎Marvel‬ movie.”
