Earlier this evening (December 11th), Lee Pace paired up with Richard Armitage for the first of two Q&As. As part of Apple’s “Meet the Actors” series, Lee and Richard took moderator and fan questions about their upcoming film, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, at the NYC SoHo Apple Store. There are photos from the Q&A in the gallery, and you can also download a free podcast and/or video from the iTunes Store right here. (If you’re unable to access the store, the video can be viewed on YouTube.)
Cinemax has a tradition of gathering co-stars promoting their recent project to conduct “60 Second” interviews with one another. This time, Lee Pace was paired up with his Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies co-stars – and fellow elves – Orlando Bloom (Legolas) and Evangeline Lilly (Tauriel). You can watch Lee’s interview above, and the two Q&As where he asks questions below. The interviews are quick and fun — and you can tell just how well these three get along with one another.
Lee Pace was on “The TODAY Show” this morning, December 11th, to help promote the upcoming US release of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. He was alone among the Hobbit cast but fared well handling the three-person panel. He talked of his character, Thranduil, and the horse he rode named Moose that was later transformed into an elk in the movie. At three-minutes long, it’s a short interview, but worth checking out.
Also, for those looking for Lee’s interview on “The View” today: sadly, it did not happen. Luke Evans had dropped out due to illness, then Orlando Bloom, but both Lee and Richard Armitage were no-shows this morning. No worries, though; Lee booked an appearance with MTV’s Joshua Horowitz instead, so we can look forward to another great interview with him and Josh.
This evening (December 9th), Lee Pace attended the Los Angeles premiere for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. (I believe this is the last of the worldwide premiers for BOFA, sadly, with screening events yet to come.) Although he attended the event alone, co-star and friend Evangeline Lilly – who plays fellow elf Tauriel in the film – mentioned to @Hollywood that she and Lee got ready at her hotel room while listening to The Beatles on vinyl.
The premiere was a big one, with many cast members (and crew) in attendance. Among them: Richard Armitage, Elijah Wood, Andy Serkis, Orlando Bloom, Billy Boyd, Graham McTavish, Dean O’Gorman, composer Howard Shore, and director Peter Jackson. Jack Black, James Cameron, and Marcia Gay Harden were also at the premiere.
You can view many, many photos of Lee from the premiere in the gallery. (There are also some after-party pictures here.) Click below for some videos/interviews of Lee from the black carpet.
Last night (December 6th), Lee Pace attended the Canadian premiere of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies in Toronto. He was joined by director Peter Jackson and writer/producer Philippa Boyens. Pictures from the red carpet have been added to the gallery, and you can also find interviews from the press line below. (There’s only one currently, but I’ll add more as they roll in.)

While Lee Pace was in London, he did multiple interviews alongside his Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies co-stars, Evangeline Lilly and Orlando Bloom, as part of a press junket. This appears to have lasted a few days and also included the press conference on the 2nd, which I’ve already posted about. I’ve since gathered all the London interviews I could find with the three actors, which you can view below. (I’ll continue updating if any more roll in.)
Several short clips from The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies have been released online by Warner Brothers in preparation for the film’s upcoming release. In three of these clips, we get to see Lee Pace as Thranduil; others feature Luke Evans as Bard the Bowman facing Smaug and rallying Laketown, Galadriel coming to Gandalf’s aid, and a clip from the battle. Check all the other available scenes below, plus a Hobbit/Lord of the Rings featurette above (which also has some Thranduil scenes).
Earlier today, Lee Pace was involved in another Twitter-based Q&A — this time, to help promote The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. He took control of @TheHobbitMovie and answered various fan questions – both about himself and his character, Thranduil – to hilarious degrees. (Anyone else loving Lee on social media?) He even posted a few selfies, including one of… his socks. You can read a full transcript of the Q&A below:
@leepace is here and ready to answer your questions! #AskThranduil https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B38jmLmCcAAxnxd.jpg:large
@waxn28 In the whole Hobbit trilogy, who is your favourite villain & why?
@leepace Very good question. Smaug because he’s the biggest and the baddest.
@pie_makerx is pie included in your diet?
@leepace I love pie. Especially apple pie.
@_avidchyme If you could play any other character in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, who would you be?
@leepace I would be one of the ringwraiths.
@laurenoola on a scale of 1 to Thranduil how sassy are you in real life? ;-)
@leepace Define sassy… #AskThranduil #TheHobbit
The London press conference for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies occurred yesterday, December 2nd, and featured a fair chunk of the huge film cast. Among Lee Pace, others in attendance were Andy Serkis, Orlando Bloom, Evangeline Lilly, Richard Armitage, director Peter Jackson, Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, writer/producer Philippa Boyens, Luke Evans, Ryan Gage, and Billy Boyd.
You can view the full press conference in the video above. (Sadly, I haven’t been able to procure any official photos from the event. Will update if I do!) Lee Pace doesn’t talk much in it – Peter Jackson has the mic the majority of the time – but he does chime in occasionally. The various points of views from the cast may be of interest for Hobbit fans nonetheless.
